Dr. John Khoury
After earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University, Dr. John Khoury completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Dr. Khoury opened John Khoury Dental (formerly the Oxford Smile Center) in August 2004 with the mission of serving the community where he has lived his entire life.
As a top-rated dentist in Oxford, MI, Dr. Khoury believes in professional growth and development, and with advanced clinical training, experience, and education, he will provide the finest care available through modern dentistry. He is currently in an advanced curriculum at Spear Education in Scottsdale, AZ, to learn the latest and most advanced techniques.

Meet Our Doctor
Dr. Hussain Ali
After earning his Bachelor of Science in Public Health Sciences and a Master of Management from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Dr. Hussain Ali completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Dr. Ali joined John Khoury Dental as an associate dentist with the goal of serving the Southeast Michigan community that shaped him. He grew up in Commerce Township and has lived in Lake Orion for the past 10 years.
After dental school, Dr. Ali continued his training through an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. There, he cared for our nation’s Veterans, many of whom faced complex medical and dental needs, and gained advanced training in surgical procedures, endodontic therapy, restorative dentistry, and full-mouth rehabilitation.
Dr. Ali is dedicated to providing care that is both precise and compassionate. With his background in public health and business, he focuses not only on clinical treatment, but also on accessibility, prevention, and long-term health for every patient he meets. He shares the practice’s philosophy of treating every patient like family and looks forward to helping you achieve a healthy, confident smile.

In our experience, dental fear or phobia stems from distrust. We have found that patients who are very nervous to start eventually get very comfortable with dental treatment, knowing that we will tell them everything they need to know and that we have their best interests at heart.

We believe strongly in giving back to the community. Dr. Khoury and staff sponsor many different activities in the Oxford/Lake Orion community. The office sponsors many different local sports programs, as well as donating needed oral hygiene supplies to different programs. Dr. Khoury is a volunteer with Donated Dental Services, which provides free dental care to those in need. Dr Khoury is an active parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church in Lake Orion. The office hosts a Halloween Candy Buy Back every year. The event gets nearly 500 lbs. of candy annually. The candy is donated to the American Legion in Oxford, which then sends it over to the troops. Dr Khoury believes one of the keys to leading a happy and healthy life is supporting others and giving back.

I could feel the effects of grinding and the loss of functionality, and it concerned me. Socially, I didn’t think it really affected my self-confidence. Though, now that I have completed treatment, I do find it easier to approach people. I could see the results of nightly grinding and it wasn’t going to get better without action on my part. I made the decision to set a dental goal for myself and together Dr. Khoury and I came up with a plan. I rarely visited the dentist prior to this decision so having regular visits was a huge change to overcome. My dental health, self-esteem and social interaction have all been improved. People are nicer to me, even strangers. Now that my bite is fixed, I am more confident when eating in public because of cleanliness.
Everyone has something they feel they want in their life, but are not sure they can attain it. Mine was a bright, big white smile. As people age, teeth continue to yellow, spaces get bigger and general health of teeth deteriorates. Top on my bucket list was a new smile, and The Oxford Smile Center helped me realized this important wish. I am so happy with my smile, and Dr. Khoury, Brenda, Andrea and the entire staff made sure it was just what I asked for. Amazingly, the color is perfect, and it doesn’t look like I have “false teeth”. Remnants of little imperfections in the shape of my teeth that gave me my own personality are still there – just enough so I know these teeth are still mine.
Dr. Khoury and all of the staff are incredibly personable and skilled. Really nice to walk through the door with a sense of trust to be in the hands of such incredible people.
